The Real Story of Costa Coffee – The UK’s Favorite Coffee Shop

Costa Coffee was voted the UK’s favorite coffee shop brand in 2010 and also the favorite coffee shop. The company dates to 1971 when their first coffee was poured in London by Bruno and Sergio Costa.

Right next to that original location there is today the Costa Roastery continuing to create the Mocha Italia blend that made them famous.

The Costa Coffee Shops seek to provide a very welcoming environment for patrons along with a wide variety of Specialty Coffee Drinks. They pride themselves on having the finest coffee brewing equipment and the best trained and most passionate Baristas. It’s no wonder they are the UK’s most popular coffee shop.

Costa Coffee also works to be a responsible business in various ways including sourcing one hundred percent of their Mocha Italia blend coffee from Rainforest Alliance Certified Farms. They also have set up a Costa Foundation that supports coffee farmers in different ways.

Costa Coffee even has its own herd of cows and they transport the milk in pouches so that less waste is created. The cups at Costa Coffee are created only with certified sustainable pulp so that it can be more easily recycled.

Currently Costa Coffee is working to reduce their energy consumption and lower their carbon emissions and searching for new ways to lessen the amount of waste that needs to go to a landfill.

Costa Coffee 2011 continued:

Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee ensures that the farmers and the land are supported and the farming is sustainable. Costa’s goal is to eventually acquire all of their coffee beans from certified sustainable sources.
