Where Does Coffee Grow Best?

Coffee plants grow best in a tropical zone that spans the globe between the Tropic of Capricorn at 23 degrees south latitude to the Tropic of Cancer at 23 degrees north latitude. Most of the world’s premium gourmet coffee is grown by about 35 countries within this zone.

CoffeeMan Dan says, “In all, about 70 countries grow coffee, and they are all within about 1,000 miles of the equator.”

Every coffee growing region produces a unique type of coffee with distinctive origin flavors—the natural flavors produced by the soil and climate of the region where the coffee was grown, as well as the particular coffee plant variety. These factors result in a wonderful diversity of flavors and aromas from each of the prime coffee-growing regions.
